The World Photography Festival takes place in London between 26th April – 1st May 2011 with a packed schedule of events, workshops and talks, including the Sony World Photography Awards at the Odeon Leicester Square.
The week-long festival invites budding photographers to share their work, meet other photographers and learn new skills, with highlights including Portfolio reviews, peer-to-peer sessions, screenings, seminars, one-on-one discussions with resident critics and a Photographers Lounge for networking with other creatives.
Experts participating in the Portfolio Reviews include museum curators, critics, gallery owners, picture editors and magazine editors. All experts will offer their expertise during face-to-face meetings. Whilst the Portfolio Workshop is intended for photographers that may not yet have a portfolio or wish to re-build an existing one. During these workshops an expert will work with a photographer for 2-3 hours whilst he/she guides them on how to construct an efficient portfolio.
An exhibition of work showcased at the Embankment Galleries of Somerset House from 26th April – 22 May features a retrospective on Bruce Davidson, work by the Sony World Photography Award Winners 2011, the Student Focus Award Winners and a Photography & Moving Image Book Award exhibition.
