The Big Lachowski Interview

Track: ‘I Would Die 4 You’ By Prince

Brazilian Francisco Lachowski (Models 1), who has just relocated to London to live with his girlfriend, is a model that really needs no introduction. Having won a model content in 2008 and subsequent contracts with Ford Models in Sao Paolo and New York, Francisco made his debut on the worldwide stage during the men’s Fashion Weeks in Milan and Paris in January 2009.

It was from here that Francisco aka Chico’s meteoric rise to fame began with a little help from Karl Lagerfeld who shot him for the Dior Homme AW09 ad campaign.

Since 2009 he has shot with the world’s top photographers, stylists and fellow models, travelling the world and loving life. Francisco’s editorial credits in just two years include Vogue Hommes Japan with Magnus Unnar and Karim Sadli, FHM Collections with Emilio Tini, VMAN with Ellen von Unwerth, Vogue Hommes with Walter Pfeiffer, Made in Brazil, Interview and Vanity Teen.

Brands that have chosen Francisco to front their advertising campaigns include Dior Homme (AW09), Duvetica (SS10), Etro (AW10), DKNY (AW10), Benetton (AW10), Armani Exchange (SS11), Ermanno by Ermanno Scervino (AW11) and most recently DSquared2 (AW11).

Needless to say Francisco’s good-looks and happy-go-lucky personality have won him a number of adoring fans across the globe who follow his every move. We therefore put it to our Twitter and FaceBook friends to pose their own questions to Brazil’s Boy-Wonder!

Q&A

(@blogmib) – ‘Made in Brazil’ says ‘hi’. When will you next be back in Brazil?

I don’t know now I’m living in London with my girlfriend. Maybe in one month to see my family. I have no set plans.

(@art8amby) – Where is your favourite place to holiday?

My home! I go to the beach with my family.

(@Kamilafgra) – You like Brazilian beaches. Do you have a favourite?

I would love to go to a paradise beach in Indonesia or Thailand. Somewhere more peaceful!

(Mark Crawford – Facebook) – How often do you go to the gym and what tips can you give for a person to stay fit and healthy?

I haven’t been to the gym much this year. I don’t go often as I don’t want to get too big. I will go back but focus on aerobic exercise and some weight building.

(@PopEatMyHeart) – Please tell us about your Polish routes. Do you speak any Polish? Are you proud to have family routes in Poland and do you know/eat any Polish dishes?

I know a lot of Polish dishes. I don’t speak much Polish, just a couple of phrases – ‘Happy Birthday’ and ‘Good Night’. My dad is from Poland so we often eat Polish food. I’ve never been. I would love to go there.

(@gizmo_izmo) – What music do you listen to?

Everything! I’m really eclectic. HipHop, Rap, Rock and some pop.

Are you on Twitter? If not, do you plan to join?

I’m not on Twitter. I was told I should join but I have no plans to at the moment.

You have many fans pages and blogs. Do you read them? And how does it feel having such a following?

I do read them when I find the time. It’s cool to have a fan base! I enjoy reading what people have to say.  Some people are a bit psycho about some things like my girlfriend. It can be quite rude and upsetting!

Do you get recognised and stopped on the street?

Yes I have. In London four times already. Also in New York, Milan and Paris. It’s fun!  Some people scream and take photos.

(@zidvicious) – How does it feel currently being the highest ranked Brazilian on Models.com?

Feels good. I appreciate it! I’m just doing my job.

You were found from a modeling competition in Brazil. Were you scouted for it or did you personally enter the competition?

Ford in my home city scouted me and asked me to enter the competition.

What has been your favourite job to date?

My first time doing Versace in Milan was great back in June. The campaign shoot for Armani Exchange with Marlon was also a lot of fun.

(@OhMyFrancisco) – Are you able to tell us of any projects that you’re working on/have planned?

A very exciting ad campaign will be out in December. There will also be an iPad App with some very special features!

(@paolojacinto) – What do you think sets you apart from other models?

I don’t know. Best not to ask me that.

(@paola909) – Will you be doing NY Fashion Week this season?

Maybe. I’m talking to Ford Models at the moment. I think so.

(@rivieracacharel) – A number of male models are taking up acting. Is this something you have/would ever consider?

Yes I would consider it. I have been planning to take some acting classes whilst in London. We’ll see!

(@suurgee) – What do you enjoy most about being a model?

Travelling, seeing new places and meeting new people.

(@art8amby) – Do you have a favourite model to work with?

Not really! I like working with my friends. Marlon, Evandro, Max etc…

Are there any models in the industry that you’d still like to shoot with?

I’d like to work with some of the big supermodels!

If you weren’t modeling, what profession do you think you’d be working in?

I have no idea. That’s why I’m modeling!
