Aitor Throup AW13 Presentation
Aitor Throup revealed his first full ready to wear collection at London Collections: Men entitled ‘New Object Research’ featuring multiple suspended life-size sculptures wearing different variations of the four complete outfits, made up from the 20 piece collection.
Throup’s varied themes draws inspiration from the study of Mongolian culture, history, tradition and beliefs in ‘Mongolia’ highlighting the dependence the Mongolian people have with their horses to ‘The Funeral of New Orleans’, telling a story of how five members of a marching band protected themselves and their instruments in the face of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Each garment has been cut from a thermo-active cotton mesh sculpture of a human body in the pose needed to play each instrument.
The event also featured exclusive live music by Sergio Pizzorno from Kasabian.
