Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty
The V&A Museum in London held a swanky gala party last night to inaugurate its Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty retrospective, the exhibition that broke Met Museum visitor records in New York back in 2011.
Guests including Aimee Mullins, Erin O’Connor, Eva Herzigova, FKA Twigs, Kate Moss, Katy England, Nadja Swarovski, Naomi Campbell, Selma Hayek and Stella Tennant were in attendance wearing past and present designs from the Alexander McQueen brand.
Savage Beauty opens its doors to the public on Saturday 14th March and runs until 2nd August 2015. The exhibition is presented in ten sections showcasing Lee McQueen’s iconic body of work, from his 1991 MA graduate collection to his final unfinished designs.
On show will be over 200 ensembles including 30 additional garments not featured at the Met Museum including items lent by private collectors Katy England, Annabelle Neilson, and garments from the Isabella Blow Collection and House of Givenchy.
Sarah Burton, Creative Director Alexander McQueen, said: “Savage Beauty is a celebration of the most imaginative and talented designer of our time. Lee was a genius and a true visionary who pushed boundaries, challenged and inspired. He believed in creativity and innovation and his talent was limitless.”
