Burberry SS16 Catwalk Show
Burberry showcased its Spring/Summer 2016 womenswear collection on Monday with the usual glitz and glamour now expected of the luxury British fashion brand.
Celebs including St Vincent and Benedict Cumberbatch were joined on the front row by past Burberry campaign stars Kate Moss, Jourdan Dunn, Suki Waterhouse, Cara Delevingne, Sienna Miller, Clara Paget, Holliday Grainger, Amber Anderson, Oscar Tuttiett, Harry Treadaway and Tom Odell.
The singer responsible for entertaining the 1000-strong crowd this season was the legendary Alison Moyet who belted out four tracks, accompanied by a 32-piece orchestra conducted by Joe Duddell from an orchestra pit in the centre of the runway.
The collection ‘Functionregalia‘ had a sexier feel compared with the patchwork, pattern and print designs for Autumn/Winter 2015. Peak-a-boo mesh dresses (with matching booties) and revealing lace were styled with elements of regalia including jackets with hand-embroidered military motifs and jackets with metallic cording.
Functionality came in the form of capes, the iconic Burberry trench, and for SS16 the monogrammed poncho is replaced by monogrammed backpacks, which can be pre-ordered until 5th October via burberry.com.
