David Koma SS13 Catwalk Show
David Koma‘s Spring/Summer 2013 collection is inspired by the ‘hard, fast and beautiful’ women of tennis capturing the focused yet carefree confidence that the professional athletes radiate on court. In the spirit of Teddy Tinling, David set out to re-interpret the conventional tennis dress.
Grassy greens, tangerine orange, electric blue and crisp white adorn the series of short dresses with pleated skirts, open backs and cut out detailing while t-shirt dresses with a neat tennis net print modernize the ‘gamine’ look of girl’s hanging out on the Kings Road in the 1960’s.
Made from thick jersey, silk and patent leathers, the collection has a hard yet soft silhouette with loose organza sweaters appearing relaxed but paired with a form fitting bodycon dress underneath. Even the graceful organza featured throughout is rigid, having been manipulated into flat godets or cut into dresses to create geometric shapes, it’s game, set and match for Spring/Summer ’13.
