Dior Cruise 2014 Collection

Dior‘s new creative director Raf Simons took to the Principality of Monaco to present its Cruise 2014 womenswear collection with an exclusive catwalk show on the weekend.

The contemporary 58 look collection sees Simons using lace for the first time to re-work the traditionally romantic fabric into something fresh, playful and modern. Whilst inspiration was once again taken from The House of Dior’s archive with layering taking centre stage to redefine tailoring and silhouettes.

The focus for me here was on lace and energy,” explains Raf Simons. “It was a challenge, I never worked with lace before. It was about transforming the meaning of the material; not romantic, not historical, not old, to something light, playful, colourful and modern – with energy.”
