LCF | Yohji Yamamoto at Work Exhibition
London College of Fashion launches ‘Yohji Yamamoto at Work‘ later this month in collaboration with the V&A. The exhibition at The Fashion Space Gallery, curated by Ligaya Salazar and Magdalene Keaney, documents the life cycle of a navy sleeveless pleated dress from Yamamoto’s AW10 collection.
Presented in reverse sequence from the finished article, the exhibition explores the production process, inspiration and journey of the collection alongside vintage garments from Yamamoto’s archive and backstage imagery.
As an ongoing project LCF Professor France Corner OBE will also be holding a discussion with the designer and honorary doctorate at the V&A Museum on 26th June.
Frances comments “It is a great privilege to be showcasing the work of Yohji Yamamoto, one of the most influential and enigmatic fashion designers of recent times, here in the Fashion Space Gallery. The exhibition will provide a fascinating insight into creative processes which would normally be hidden from view, offering the public a unique insight into his original approach to design.”
