Maria Grazia Chiuri – Fashion Awards 2017
Maria Grazia Chiuri is yet again the talk of the town as the British Fashion Council, in partnership with Swarovski, announces that the Dior artistic director is to receive this year’s Swarovski Award for Positive Change.
The award is bestowed yearly to a person, or brand, that uses their platform and influence to inspire good relations between people in a community. Being the brand’s first female Creative Director in the House’s history, Chiuri has changed the dynamics of the runway. Always looking to connect her works to current political climate, she uses the materials at her disposal to speak of subjects, mostly about feminism.
“I am delighted and very honoured to receive the Swarovski Award for Positive Change. The feminist movement that has been mine for the longest time has finally struck a resonant chord in society, and this recognition sends a powerful message to all women battling on a daily basis. It also offers a timely opportunity to pay tribute to Franca Sozzani who, last year, was the recipient of the very first award.” said the Creative Director, about the award.
She will formally receive her award at The Fashion 2017 on December 4th, to be celebrated at The Royal Albert Hall in London.
