Seeking #Gymspiration at BodyPower Expo
Whether it’s the surge in popularity of activewear on the street to the high turnover of fitness trends and new superfoods, the change in attitude towards a healthy lifestyle is all around us.
This new attitude is also reflected in the public perception of body image. From the catwalk, to campaign billboards and magazine editorials casting directors and fashion brands not only have a responsibility to celebrate healthy physiques there is also demand from the public. The waif androgynous models of the late 90s have, on the whole, made way for a new wave of models that are more likely to be seen on a Pilates reformer than chugging on a cigarette.
Models like Calvin Klein muse Matt Terry, male model Pietro Boselli dubbed ‘the hottest maths teacher in the world’, Nike campaign star Karlie Kloss and Under Armour’s newest ambassador Gisele Bundchen.
Popstar Justin Bieber has also been using his new muscled physique, fronting Calvin Klein Underwear’s SS15 campaign to the cover of Men’s Health, to show the world that he’s turning into a man and wants to be taken seriously as a recording artist.
Healthy living is not just seen as aspirational but also attainable to the masses. Women are proud to be seen outside the gym in their sportswear whilst guys are equally as forthcoming when it comes to updating their Instagram with the latest #gymselfie.
To further explore this we’ll be heading down to BodyPower Expo this weekend (from 15th to 17th May) to hang-out with the #FitFam, find out what’s new in the world of fitness, and literally rub shoulders with the most in-shape athletes to get their tips on what we can all be doing to live healthier, more active lifestyles!
WWF legend Hulk Hogan will be in attendance as well as the world’s leading fitness athletes, former model Lorraine Pascale will be on hand to provide healthy eating tips, and they’ll be pros giving tips on how to get that natural looking summer body. Plus brands showcasing the latest innovations in nutrition, sportswear and exercise equipment.
