The Met Gala 2013 Fashion
The Met Gala, fashion’s equivalent to the Oscars, took place in New York last night and marks the launch of a major exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum from May 9th – August 14th.
PUNK: Chaos to Couture was the dress code for the red carpet event co-hosted by Rooney Mara, Lauren Santo Domingo, Riccardo Tisci and Anna Wintour that saw guests including pop royalty Madonna and Beyonce rub shoulders with designers, supermodels and actors to raise funds for the museum.
Take a look and some of the highs and lows of last night’s punk inspired looks by the likes of Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci, Burberry, Dior, Balmain, Marc Jacobs, Giles Deacon and the queen of punk Vivienne Westwood.
Whilst some celebrities took punk in it’s literal sense with studs, chains and tartans; others were erring on side of caution with just a slight nod to punk’s influence on fashion.
Our look of the night goes to Sarah Jessica Parker (above), styled by Katie Grand, who teamed a Giles Deacon ball gown with thigh-high tartan Christian Louboutin boots and a Philip Treacy mohawk head piece.
