Diesel by Nicola Formichetti Catwalk Show

Diesel_Nicola-Formichetti-01

Nicola Formichetti showcased his debut collection for Diesel last week following his appointment as Artistic Director last year.

Formichetti was brought on to help bring the brand back to the glory days of the nineties and he certainly has got people (in fashion circles at least) talking about Diesel again.

Whether it’s lending his styling expertise to fashion mags to create editorial concepts for Diesel or enlisting rapper Brooke Candy for a raunchy 60 second film to launch the accessories line, Formichetti has already done good on his promise to make the brand relevant.

Thursday 3rd April saw Formichetti’s biggest task, re-launching the menswear and womenswear collections.

Guests including Courtney Love were flown to Venice for the show that saw models introducing a collection with a fusion of punk, emo, grunge and rock ‘n’ roll influences. A sense of rebellion was in the air with acid wash denim, black leather, skinny jeans, zip detailing, distressed denim, graffiti slogans and fur trim parkas all present.

Adding to the ambience of the show was a set of films created by renowned photographer Nick Knight of SHOWstudio, displayed in a triptych background to the catwalk with a brilliant soundtrack to boot!
